The city of Yekaterinburg by right can be considered the largest administrative, cultural, business, scientific and educational center of the Ural region. To date, it is the capital of the Urals that forms one of the largest educational clusters of the Russian Federation.
In my opinion, the creation of the Student Campus is one of the most topical areas of architectural thought, which allows solving a lot of problems of student youth and reaching a new level of development, assimilation and systematization of knowledge, skills and habits.
The selected site for the construction of the Student Campus is located on the urban land of the city of Yekaterinburg, in the ul. Yumashev, Papanin, Chelyuskintsev. The educational center, as an integral part of the campus, is located on the bank of the river. Iset within the borders of ul. Yumashev and Papanin.
The student campus and the Education Center set the development vector for the Upper Iset Pond development ensemble designed to create a cultural and business center along the two shores of the main water artery in Yekaterinburg.
The choice of the declared place in the city center is conditioned by the following socio-economic factors:
- Connecting scientific potentials (USURS, Urals State University of Law) to a cultural - business (Ekaterinburg - City) and a historical environment with student activity.
- Interchange of resources - the development of scientific and educational contacts between the city and the campus (the city and its economic and social behavior is the main subject of scientific research of the professional activities of students).
Student Campus
The student campus is a well-functioning organism that meets the concept of "city in the city", it combines all the necessary functions - the availability of an educational complex, dormitories, housing for teachers and employees, as well as territories for sports facilities, green recreational spaces, walking network. One of the key elements The student campus is a boulevard, originating from ul. October Revolution, repeating the outline of the street. Papanin and passing through the housing. It seamlessly connects the city center, hostel buildings and the Education Center. Such a town-planning solution creates a pedestrian circuit that unites the professional environment with student activity. Pedestrian bridge across the river. Iset connects the campus with USURTU and the Institute of Justice of the Urals State University of Law, creating a single educational unit that allows students to interact with each other.
Education Centre
The educational center is the main element in the life of the campus, playing the role of a bridge between the campus and the city. The building of the center is a composition justified by the functional division of blocks for various types of scientific, educational and leisure activities. It consists of the main gallery volume (3 floors) - recreational spaces and three parallel modules of varying number of storeys (from 2 - 4 floors) - educational production blocks, the length of the protruding parts from 54 to 65 meters and a width of 18 meters. Consoles of volumetric elements hang over the ground and are supported by supports in the form of round forms, echoing with the architectural and planning decision of the buildings of the hostels of the campus.
The educational center includes the following functional areas: the training zone, the zone of the administrative and public center, the cultural and business zone, the research area, the food court, the engineering and technical service area.
Plans have a fairly flexible organization of internal spaces with the possibility of creating both small private zones and large recreational areas. Expansion of corridors in certain places creates special points of attraction. Internal atriums of the main volume through the lanterns located on the roof of the building are filled with light, connecting the interiors of the Educational Center with the surrounding nature, filling it with air and light.
Structural system
The structural system of the main block of the Educational Center is a frame system of vertical pillars-columns and the beams that connect them in the horizontal plane - crossbars with rigid nodes - diaphragms of rigidity.
At the heart of the constructive system of blocks-consoles is a monolithic multi-storey spatial reinforced concrete frame.
As the internal finishing of the premises a raised floor system and modular suspended ceilings with built-in LED lights are used. For finishing walls, water - dispersion (latex) paint and magnetic marker system are used.
Maintenance of buildings
Maintenance of buildings by fire trucks and ambulances in case of special situations is carried out without restrictions. Paving, used throughout the campus, is designed for driving cars in the event of emergencies. The project includes a sprinkler fire extinguishing system. Sprinklers installed in a false ceiling. The input unit for fire water supply is located on the technical floor (the basement of the main volume of the Educational Center).
Measures to improve the energy efficiency of the building
Measures to increase the energy efficiency of the building of the Education Center: taking into account environmental conditions and climatic parameters in the development of the project, maximizing the use of natural lighting for reducing energy costs, green roofing on the roof of the main building block of the Education Center, which reduces the heat loss of the building.
Disabled people
Providing unimpeded access for disabled people and low-mobility groups to the Education Center is carried out by means of ramps, specialized workplaces for disabled people and conditions for their free access and movement are created in the building of the center.
