Outlet store is a place where big brands sell their stock of the previous seasons at a discount up to 70 per cent. Outlet can be identify as the form of trade which specializes in “low price territory” and it can be assert in premium and luxury segment. Outlet stores allow boutiques to get of the stocks which accumulates during sale season.
The increase of outlets’ social significance firstly connected with growth of tourist mobility. Due to the high per cent of tourist traveled in EU and North America a relevance of the reaction for the new demand appears, that is adopting the foreign experience the setting up the new international form of a trade like the outlets.
This process connected with several social facts.
Firstly, it’s the cosmopolitanism.
European culture, lifestyle and as a result – brands have got international popularity. Almost in every country the requirement of the European goods exists in everyday life, moreover desirous to buy the brand’s premium class production getting more.
Secondly, the demand on sales and discount goods increases. Such a sales pitch has got a great popularity today. However retailers of exclusive brands are the most popular.
Thirdly, a nowadays shopping culture supposes the concentration of the common level shops in one place. It takes great spaces.
The necessity of creation such center in cultural and tourist capital of Russia with great tourist flow from Europe and America is obvious. The second important condition is the choice of the place of the outlet.
My bachelor’s graduate project offers to place the outlet store on the Petrovsky Island which is close to historical center of S-Petersburg. This choice supposed good accessibility and neighborhood with tourist routes. Besides economic profit the project has other important aims and goals:
-Social renovation of neglect industrial territory
-Saving and reconstruction newly discovered architectural monuments, which has historical value for the city.
- Economic development of the territory, increase of it profitability.
For the visitors of the outlet store project foresees big tourist bus stop, two stops for public transport, big underground parking, and convenient pier for the water public transport. The core of the outlet store is the communication space connected historical and new building covered with light weight space frame.
The shops of popular brands have their places on both sides of this covered street. Also visitors have in their disposal the runaway, the food court with an eye to Malya Neva. There is a hotel on the bank of Neva with the historical center all-round views for the guests of the city. The outlet store also has place for children’s fashion house. Comfortable landscaped pier for the water public transport is a quiet place for a rest after an active shopping .The culture component of the project presents by the exhibition areas with sculptures, rest places with dynamic installations. Nearby historical building - the house of the owner of the ropery –offered to turn into a museum of that manufactory.
